Charlie Kendall is a well known American disc jockey whose voice talents were used in many nationally syndicated radio programs. Kendall began his love of radio at age 14. He was a Boy Scout at the time, and while on a tour of local radio station WKDL, he visited the on-air studio. The instant the studio door opened, he knew this was the job for him. Kendall would go on to work at such legendary stations as New York's WNEW, Philly's WMMR, Miami's WSHE, Boston’s WBCN, L.A.'s KWST, Dallas' KZEW, Cleveland's WMMS, Boston's WVBF, Indianapolis' WNAP, and that station where he got his first full time job, WROX-AM (which he later went back and bought). He was also VP Radio Programming for 57 stations on ClickRadio. Charlie was a number one ranked host for KDKB and was transferred to Morning Drive at KSLX in Phoenix before a nerve injury took out his left arm. He went on to become VP Programming for 15 stations in the LM Communications Radio Group in Lexington, KY.
His nationally syndicated radio program "MetalShop" was heard on over 250 stations for over 11 years and his voice has been on hundreds of radio specials, promos and commercials for radio and TV stations worldwide. Kendall lent his voice to national and international projects including the PBS series NOVA, The Ultimate Fighting Championships, Extreme Championship Wrestling, The Billboard Music Awards, The NBA on TNT, several HBO music specials. Charlie created many ground breaking programs including MetalShop, Rock Today, and Country Today, as well as numerous NBC, Westwood One, HBO and ABC Radio special programs. His musical writer/producer credits include production and sound effects packages for ABC and SW Networks. He was also co-Creator and Executive Producer of Ticket To Ride for DIR Broadcasting plus host of Super Stars in Concert, The Who live at Radio City Music Hall, and Live Aid for Westwood One. Plus, host and producer of Rock Star Guest DJ for Rolling Stone Magazine. The Legends of Rock for NBC Radio. Host of the First Rolling Stones "Farewell Special" for ABC Radio Networks (1989). Host of the most listened-to radio program in the history of MJI Broadcasting, The Metallica Memorial Day Marathon on May 26-29, 2000.
He is cited in the autobiography of Aerosmith "Walk This Way" for being an early supporter. The book "Tom Petty and Me" by Jon Scott and John Cougar Mellencamp's book, "Trend Setters".
